The Exclamatids letterpress print

£6.00

An imaginary meteor shower inspired by the prolific use of exclamation marks these days. It makes use of minuscule metal stars combined with some wooden italic exclamation marks which felt to me as if they were expressive enough to stand in for meteor trails. It also seemed a great opportunity to use the beautiful ornamental border that surrounds the text. Wording reads:

“THE EXCLAMATIDS are a meteor shower first spotted in the latter half of the 14th century over Italy. They leave emphatic ‘wakes’ of verve and zing behind them as they streak through Earth’s atmosphere. Over the last 30 years sightings have risen dramatically. They are increasingly seen in flurries of three or more at a time.”

I used silver ink for the stars and meteors, and a silvery metallic blue for the text. It’s quite a subtle effect.

I have just a handful of these little prints on midnight blue and dark purple textured card. I plan to make a larger version at some point, with lots more stars surrounding the text block, and I’ll likely print the text in gold for greater contrast. Sign up to my email list or get in touch to let me know if you’d be interested in hearing about it once it’s ready.
